Providing for enhanced public transport, walking and cycling facilities
3.31 The design of the development should consider providing direct routes and access points to shorten trips by pedestrians to local facilities, such as shops, schools and public transport links. Any pedestrian routes need to be designed with safety in mind.
3.32 Minor adjustments to the design of a development can make a signifi cant contribution to encouraging people to cycle, and this can include the provision of linkages to local cycle route networks.
3.33 Consideration of how the development would relate to public transport services, such as bus stops or train stations is also important. The development can be orientated to make access to such facilities more convenient.
