Issued by: Department of the Environment
Published: August 2010
This second addendum to PPS 7 ‘Quality Residential Environments’ provides additional planning policy provisions on the protection of local character, environmental quality and residential amenity within established residential areas, villages, and smaller settlements.
It also sets out policy on the conversion of existing buildings to flats or apartments. In addition the addendum contains policy to promote the greater use of permeable paving within new residential developments to help reduce the risk of flooding from surface water run-off.
The policies contained within the addendum must be read in conjunction with those of PPS 7 ' Quality Residential Environments' and with the existing addendum to PPS 7,' Residential Extensions and Alterations'.
