Consultation On Armagh Planning Issues

Published on Mon, 5 Apr 2004
David Ferguson, Chief Executive of the Planning Service, formally launched the Armagh Area Plan 2018 Issues Paper at the Market Place Theatre, Armagh today.
Mr Ferguson said the Issues Paper provided local people with an opportunity to express their views on how their locality should develop in the future. Describing the Paper as a key component in the development of a new Armagh Area Plan, Mr Ferguson added:
"It gives everyone the opportunity to have his or her say on the future development of the District. I very much hope that everyone with an interest - community, voluntary and environmental groups, the trade and industry sector, elected representatives and members of the general public – will take the opportunity to respond to the issues raised in the Paper. It is your area. It is your future."
The Planning Service has appointed Community Technical Aid (CTA), an independent voluntary organisation which assists communities to get involved in the planning process, to undertake a comprehensive and wide-ranging public and community consultation on the Issues Paper. This will involve a series of events held throughout the Armagh City and District, arranged and chaired by CTA, at which Planning Service officials will meet with voluntary and community groups and members of the public to discuss any issues relevant to the Plan. These events will be advertised in the local press.
The public are invited to submit responses to the Issues Paper before 30 July 2004.
