Nuisance High Hedges Consultation
Published on Wed, 10 Aug 2005
Consultation seeking information on the scale and geographical spread of problems with nuisance high hedges in Northern Ireland.
This consultation ended on Wed, 26 Oct 2005
In August 2005 the Department published a consultation document and questionnaire seeking information on the scale and geographical spread of problems with nuisance high hedges in Northern Ireland. The consultation ended on 26 October 2005 and generated a high level of public interest. A total of 641 responses were received – 95% of these from members of the public.
Given that the consultation exercise provided concrete evidence that the high hedge problem in Northern Ireland is on a par with that in England and Wales, the Environment Minister, Arlene Foster MLA, intends to bring forward legislation to address this problem. However, the timetable for doing so has yet to be determined.
A summary of the main results of the consultation exercise is attached below.
