Review of PPS 15 'Planning and Flood Risk'
Published on Mon, 16 Aug 2010
Planning Policy Statement 15 'Planning and Flood Risk' was published in June 2006. It sets out the Department of the Environment's planning policies to minimise flood risk to people, property and the environment.
It adopts a precautionary approach to development and the use of land that takes account of climate change and is supportive to the wellbeing and safety of people.
Because our understanding of climate change is evolving as new evidence and experience of implementing flood risk policy is gained, in publishing the PPS, a commitment was given that it would be reviewed within 5 years of publication.
In order to faciliate such a review, comments are now being invited regarding the policy to faciliate the identification of issues that may need to be addressed in the review.
