Minutes of First Planning Forum
Published on Fri, 4 Feb 2011
Environment Minister, Edwin Poots, chaired the first meeting of a new Planning Forum on 12 January 2011 as he continues to press forward with the programme for planning reform.
Following his statement on 30 November 2010 on re-invigorating planning reform, Minister Poots set up the Planning Forum in order to broaden and deepen the debate about the future of planning, and to hear first hand from both experts on planning and from users of the planning system.
The Forum involves key stakeholders in the planning field, the development industry, local government and central government. Forum members are individuals who, on the basis of experience, position and expertise, can speak with authority about the planning system, its operation and impact, and who influence at a high level within their respective fields.
The Planning Forum will meet approximately three times a year in order to communicate and discuss the planning reform agenda, and to help develop a vision of how planning, and in particular the Minister’s planning policy, can contribute to Northern Ireland’s future as a better place to live, work and invest.
