Department of Environment issues statement on Hightown Waste Treatment Facility

Published on Wed, 13 Mar 2013 by
A Department of Environment spokesperson today commented on the new incinerator proposal at Hightown Quarry North of Belfast unveiled by Becon Consortium yesterday.
The spokesperson said: “There has been significant media and publicity interest around this proposal in the last 24 hours. I can confirm that DOE has not received a planning application for this proposal. If an application is submitted, it will be advertised in the normal manner and members of the public and other interested parties, including local politicians and residents will have every opportunity to make representations.

”As is necessary, any application will be assessed against all relevant planning, environmental and material considerations."
