Sam Foster Launches New Building Control Directory

Sam Foster MLA, Minister of the Environment, launched the second edition of the Building Control Directory today in Craigavon.
Mr Foster said: "The public demands that buildings are structurally sound, safe from fire, and environmentally friendly. They should also be healthy and comfortable to live and work in.
"Building Control officers provide a professional service and have earned the respect and co-operation of those engaged in the construction industry. As dedicated council officials, these officers provide an impartial, responsible and necessary service in ensuring that building standards are not compromised."
The Minister praised the Directory for its clarity and user-friendly appeal, adding that it reflected customer care and transparency within the Building Control service.

- Mr Foster launched the second edition of the Building Control directory today at the Seagoe Hotel in Craigavon, before an audience including Councillor Jonathan Bell, Deputy Mayor of Craigavon Borough Council, local councillors, senior Building Control officials, and representatives of professional bodies involved in the building industry.
- The Directory has been produced by Building Control Northern Ireland, in partnership with private industry, at no cost to the ratepayer.
- The directory is intended to provide the users of the Building Control service and the general public with a clear understanding of how to make an application, the site monitoring system, and the customer’s rights of appeal. Recent changes to Building Control legislation are fully explained.
