Development Plan Stage 1: Information Gathering
The relevant District Councils are notified that the Department intends to prepare a development plan affecting their area. A Notice of Intention to Prepare a Development Plan is placed in the local press, this Notice invites public comment.
Research and analysis is undertaken on a range of economic, social and environmental subjects to provide a factual base for the plan. Initial consultation is undertaken with District Councils, Government Departments and Agencies and with relevant statutory undertakers and other public stakeholders.
The information gathered through consultation and research is used to identify the primary issues pertinent to the preparation of the Plan; these are published in the form of an Issues Paper.
