Factors: Consultation responses
The Department will consult with statutory bodies to obtain comments on a development proposal in relation to the consultee's area of expertise.
Consultees provide the Department with expert opinion on development proposals. They may:
- have no objections to the proposal;
- advise that amendments should be made to the proposal to make it acceptable;
- recommend that permission be granted subject to conditions and/or informatives being attached to any decision notice;
- recommend that planning permission be refused and include reasons for such a recommendation.
In assessing the development proposal, both the case officer and the development management group will take consultee responses into account as a material consideration in forming an opinion on the application. The weight to be attached to individual consultee responses is a matter for planning judgement which will rest with Department.
