Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) are designated in recognition of their national importance as landscapes of distinctive character and special scenic value.
The designation is designed to protect and enhance the qualities of these area and to promote their enjoyment by the public.  They are designated by the Department's Environment and Heritage Service.
