DCAN 10: Environmental Impact Assessment

17.1 At a number of key stages during the consideration of development proposals that require or are likely to require EIA, the Regulations require the Department to notify or consult the appropriate District Council and “such other authorities likely to be concerned by the proposed development by reason of their specific environmental responsibilities” - consultees.

17.2 These key stages are :

17.3 The Department itself decides which authority to consult but such decisions are influenced by the nature of environmental issues associated with proposals. Authorities consulted will have environmental responsibilities material to the planning consideration of the proposals. A list of “consultees”, (which is not exhaustive) is set out in Annex B .
