Background
Enniskillen Town Centre as we know it today originates largely from the late 18th and 19th centuries. The main thoroughfare has a unique character in townscape terms which remains relatively unscathed by unsympathetic forms of modern development despite the fact that the area around the central core has altered significantly as a result of clearance and road schemes.
It is also an area which contains many fine examples of individual buildings and terraces and which boasts what is reputed to be the first public park in Ulster.
