PPS 6: Planning, Archaeology and The Built Heritage
Annex E: Cable Services
E36 If the installer holds a licence granted by the Secretary for Trade and Industry under the Telecommunications Act 1984 then the installer is bound to notify the Department’s Environment and Heritage Service
in advance of any proposed works that may alter the appearance of a listed building. If the installer does not hold such a licence then listed building consent will normally be required. The design for such an installation should be formulated with the aim that it will have a minimal impact on the appearance of the listed building. There will however be the occasional instance when the prospective impact will be so great that the installation can not be approved.
