PPS 2: Planning and Nature Conservation
Nature Conservation and Development Control: Development Affecting Local Nature Conservation Sites Identified in Development Plans
60. In addition to Local Nature Reserves and Wildlife Refuges, other sites of potential local nature conservation importance may come to light when countryside assessments are being prepared. The importance of such sites will be carefully evaluated. If it is confirmed that a particular site is of local nature conservation importance, it will be formally identified as such in the development plan. Where such sites are identified, plans will set out specific planning policies which will apply to development proposals on those sites.
