Dunman is located approximately two kilometres northeast of Cookstown, along the dual carriageway linking Cookstown and Moneymore.
The village is dominated by and centred on a creamery and food processing plant. Demand for housing is likely to be low. The capacity of sewage infrastructure servicing the village is an overriding constraint on growth. Development will normally be restricted to single dwellings of an appropriate design.
A Local Landscape Policy Area is designated along the Lissan Water in order to protect the riparian setting and nature conservation interests. Development will not normally be permitted in this area.
A 1.95 hectare site to the north of the village (R4), located north of the A29 at Ballyforlea, will be developed over the plan period as a Community Woodland providing picnic facilities and walks.
