District Proposals: Dromore Education
The following sites are zoned for educational land use. Other educational proposals can be accommodated subject to planning permission within the curtilage of existing schools and colleges.

Policy SMT 2 in
Volume 1 of the Plan.

Zoning DE 26 Education Mossvale Road
|
| 2.36 hectares of land at Mossvale Road are zoned for educational use as identified on Map No. 2/03a - Dromore. |
Outline planning permission has been granted on this site for a new primary school to replace Dromore Central Primary School.

Zoning DE 27 Education Barronstown Road
|
7.98 hectares of land at Barronstown Road are zoned for educational use as identified on Map No. 2/03a - Dromore. Key Site Requirements: - Access shall be via Drumbroneath Road or via Quillyburn Business Park;
- If access is from Drumbroneath Road, the developers shall be required to widen the road to approved standards from the school access to its junction with Diamond Road and a footpath/cycle track shall be provided along this stretch of road. The Transport Assessment will assess the impact of the development on the Diamond Road/Drumbroneath Road junction and the developer shall carry out any necessary improvements;
- If access is via Quillyburn Business Park the existing access road to Quillyburn Business Park shall be extended to the school site, forming the priority road of a staggered junction where it crosses the Barronstown Road. This new road which shall be constructed to approved standards will include a footpath/cycle track from the school site to its junction with the Banbridge Road. The provision of this road will require third party land. The siting of the school should be such that this road can be later extended beyond the school site to serve as an outer distributor;
- Pedestrian and cycle linkage shall be provided from the school site to Barban Hill. Pedestrian and cycle linkage shall be provided also from theSchool, via Gourley's Loanan, to adjacent housing developments including the Belfry and Castle Wood;
- Adequate on-site bus and car parking facilities shall be provided.

The Southern Education & Library Board (SELB) intend to develop a new secondary school on this site to replace Dromore High School.
The Developer is advised to make early contact with Roads Service.
An existing right of way known locally as Gourley's Loanan passes alongside the proposed site from Drumbroneath Road to Barronstown Road.
