Down District: Ballynahinch Transportation

Ballynahinch is located on the A24, linking Belfast and Newcastle, at the end of the A48 from Lisburn and the A21 from Saintfield, part of the Regional Strategic Transportation Network, (RSTN). The Regional Transportation Strategy (RTS), published in July 2002, sets out the budgets and types of transportation measures to be implemented including improvements to the RSTN.
Plan policies affecting the development of transportation in Ballynahinch are set out in the Transportation Section in Volume 1 of the Plan (Policy TRAN 1). A Road Scheme to be provided in accordance with Policy TRAN 1 in Volume 1 is listed below, (Proposals BH 19).

Transportation Proposals

The following road proposal is identified in accordance with Policy TRAN 1 in Volume 1 of the Plan:

Proposal BH 19 Ballynahinch Bypass

In accordance with Policy TRAN 1 in Volume 1 of the Plan the line of the proposed Ballynahinch Bypass, as indicated on Map No.3/003a, Ballynahinch Settlement Map, will be protected against any development proposals which would prejudice its implementation.
