Ards Borough: Donaghadee Settlement

|A Settlement Limit is designated in accordance with Policy SETT 1 in Volume 1 of the Plan and as indicated on Map No. 2/004a, Donaghadee Settlement Map.|
The designated Settlement Limit will allow for sufficient growth within Donaghadee in line with its role as a small town and service centre while protecting its natural setting. It excludes Portavoe House and Demesne to the north and Donaghadee Golf Course to the west.
Development in Donaghadee has extended to the north and south along the coast. The development limit will constrain any further development in these areas, provide a degree of urban containment and restrict the potential for additional traffic through the Town Centre.
The Settlement Limit will afford additional development opportunities to the west of the town centre, along Newtownards Road, in a manner which will consolidate Donaghadees urban form. The development of the additional lands also facilitates construction of a link road from the Cannyreagh Road to the Newtownards Road, which should reduce traffic flows through the Town Centre.
