Retailer fined £250 for unauthorised work on Newtownhamilton listed building

A Co Down retailer pleaded guilty at Newry Magistrates’ Court on 18 June to making unauthorised alterations to a listed building.
Ms Jackie Hughes, with an address at Dublin Road, Banbridge was fined £250 and ordered to pay £127 costs.
The prosecution was brought against Ms Hughes for unauthorised alterations and the extension of a listed building, situated at 42 Dundalk Street, Newtownhamilton.

Ms Hughes was prosecuted under Article 44 of the Planning (NI) Order 1991, as amended, as it is an offence to carry out any works for the demolition of a listed building, or for its alteration or extension in any manner which would affect its character as a building of special architectural or historic interest without the necessary consent.
