Application for Development at Sprucefield withdrawn

Sprucefield Centre Ltd has indicated that it wishes to withdraw its application for a major development at Sprucefield.
The Planning Service confirmed today that it has received a letter from Sprucefield Centre Ltd indicating that it wishes to withdraw its application for a major development at Sprucefield, which is currently the subject of a judicial review.
The Agency will be formally notifying the Court and all parties interested in the application to this effect.
The Planning Service also confirmed that Sprucefield Centre Ltd has asked for pre-application discussions on a revised scheme. A spokesperson said,” We welcome the opportunity to provide advice on the information that will be needed to support a new proposal and to explain the planning policy framework within which it will be assessed. We look forward to working with Sprucefield Centre Ltd to help ensure that any new application will be dealt with in as timely and expeditious a manner as possible."
Notes to Editors
- Following the re-assessment of an application by Sprucefield Centre Ltd for the development of a department store and additional shop units at Sprucefield Shopping Centre, the then Minister David Cairns announced his intention to approve the application on 27 March 2007.
- Leave to have the Minister’s intention to approve the proposed development judicially reviewed was granted to a number of interested parties.
- It is anticipated that the judicial review proceedings will now cease.
