Newtonabbey Man Fined for a Planning Law Breach

Published on Wed, 16 Aug 2006
Robert McMitchell of 67 Whitehouse Park, Newtownabbey was fined £7,500 at Laganside Court yesterday, for failing to comply with a Planning Service Enforcement Notice
The Enforcement Notice was issued in May 2005 against unauthorised infilling at the Whitehouse Park site. Significant amounts of clay, stone and rubble had been brought onto the land in order to raise the level of the rear garden extending to land adjacent to Gideon's Park, Newtownabbey.
Although the Stop Notice was effective in that no further material was brought onto the site, the existing material was not removed and remedial works were not carried out in accordance with the Enforcement Notice.
A spokesperson for the Planning Service said: " All breaches of planning control are taken seriously and this is a further indication of our commitment to tackling those who would deliberately flout planning laws."
