Newcastle man fined £750 for planning offence

A Newcastle man was fined £750 and £103 costs at Downpatrick Magistrates Court today.
Mr Eugene Ward of Dundrum Road, Newcastle had been found guilty of failing to comply with an enforcement notice for the unauthorised use of land at Bannanstown Road, Leitrim, Castlewellan for the collection, dismantling repair and storage of vehicles and parts.

This was a second offence for the continued non-compliance with the enforcement notice. Mr Ward’s initial court appearance in August 2010 had resulted in a fine of £2000 plus £103 costs.
