Londonderry man fined £10,000

LONDONDERRY MAN FINED £10,000 FOR NON-COMPLIANCE WITH ENFORCEMENT NOTICES
A Londonderry man was today fined a total of £10,000 at Londonderry Magistrates’ Court.
Mr John Sean Doherty of JMD Autospares, Coney Road, Culmore, Londonderry, was convicted of two continuing offences and fined £5,000 for each offence, and ordered to pay the Department of the Environment costs of £1,500 plus £19 court costs.
The offences related to non-compliance with two planning Enforcement Notices requiring the removal of an unauthorised car breaker’s yard and vehicle part sales, building and other operational development and to discontinue the use of the land for same.
The action was brought about under Article 72 of the Planning (NI) Order 1991
