Hilltown Man Fined £1000 for Planning Offences

A Hilltown man was fined £1000 and ordered to contribute £500 towards Planning Service's costs as well as paying court costs of £31 at Newry Magistrates' Court on 18th October 2010 for non-compliance with an Enforcement Notice.
Mr Thomas Devlin of Leitrim Road, Hilltown was served a material change of use notice as he had created a hardstanding, erected a fence and was storing plastic piping and fencing materials at a site 130 metres east of 94 Leitrim Road, Hilltown.
Planning Service served an enforcement notice under Article 68(1)(a) of the Planning (NI) Order 1991 as amended (Breach of planning control). Legal action was then taken under Article 72 of the Planning (NI) Order 1991 as amended (non-compliance with an enforcement notice).
