Planning Applications: Get it Right or Get it Back!
Published on Fri, 5 Aug 2005
A successful pilot has been held in Belfast Divisional Planning Office, where all incomplete planning applications were returned with the planning fee and an explanation of the reasons for return.
The Modernising Planning Process Implementation Plan issued in February 2003, stated that "The Planning Service would introduce procedures to immediately return the application and fee to the applicant/agent where it is invalid, together with a letter indicating the reasons why the application is invalid, and the information which needs to be submitted to enable processing to commence".
The main reasons for applications being returned were:
- Incorrect Fee
- Incomplete form
- Insufficient plans (In particular lack of block plans)
Planning Service have now agreed that this process should be introduced across the other Divisions from the end of the Summer. Relevant dates etc. will be published in the press and on this website as soon as possible.
