Consultation arrangements with Local Councils

Lord Rooker, the previous Minister, decided that the deferral procedures recommended in the Modernising Planning Processes Implementation Plan published in February 2003, should be implemented with effect from 3 October 2005.

NILGA (Northern Ireland Local Government Association) External link opens in a new window and a Planning Service workgroup have now produced revised guidance on consulting councils about Planning Applications which includes working examples of where deferrals have been agreed to.

This revised guidance was issued to the Chief Executive of each Council on 21 November 2006.
