Temporary Professional and Technical Officer; Planning Assistants

Applications are invited for temporary Professional and Technology Officer (PTO) - Planning Assistants to fill vacancies which may arise in the Planning Service during the forthcoming year.

The Planning Service have vacancies throughout Northern Ireland but there is an immediate need to fill a number of PTO vacancies in Omagh. Therefore, applicants must be prepared to serve anywhere within Northern Ireland.

Job Title/Grade

Temporary Professional and Technology Officer (PTO) - Planning Assistant

Whilst the maximum period of employment available in respect of this contract is 51 weeks successful candidates may have the opportunity during this time to compete for permanent posts through internal Trawls/Promotion Boards providing they meet the eligibility criteria.

Salary £18,536 per annum (at 1 August 2007 this will rise to £19,592 per annum)

42 hours per week

Qualifications

Applicants must possess by the closing date for applications:-

1 (a) ONC/OND/BTEC National Diploma in Planning, Surveying and Cartography or BTEC National Diploma in Land Administration (Planning) and

1 (b) an aggregate of at least 4 years relevant experience. The 4 years experience may include up to 3 years relevant full time study.

“Relevant experience” is defined as experience of regional planning or planning for the rural or urban environment in a paid, voluntary or academic capacity.

OR

2 HNC/HND/BTEC Higher National Certificate in Planning, Surveying and Cartography or BTEC Higher National Certificate in Land Administration (Planning)

Applications will also be considered from candidates with relevant formal qualifications considered to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.

Requirements

As this post requires the applicant to travel on official duty the successful candidate must have access to a form of transport which will enable them to fulfill their responsibilities.
