Advertising Change for Planning Applications
13th March 2007

In line with the OFMDFM Review of Government Advertising policy, in October 2006 we changed how we advertise planning notices for the Greater Belfast.

The change was to ensure value for money and to bring planning advertising in Headquarters and Belfast Division into line with the other divisional offices around Northern Ireland which already advertise in local weekly papers.

The change in advertising has been subject to a judicial review. The judicial review proceedings have brought to light a number of issues which OFMDFM would like to review.

Pending the outcome of this review, planning notices for the Greater Belfast area will be placed in the following papers:

  • The Belfast Telegraph
  • The News Letter
  • The Irish News
  • The North Belfast News
  • The South Belfast News
  • The Andersonstown News.

The notices will no longer be placed in the following weekly papers, owned by Independent News and Media and Johnston Press,

  • Belfast News
  • Community Telegraph (North, South, East/ Central)
  • Newtownabbey Times.

Details of all new applications will continue to be available on the Council Schedule section of the Website.
