GREEN BELTS & COUNTRYSIDE POLICY AREAS

This section outlines the planning policy for the control of development in Green Belts and Countryside Policy Areas (CPAs). More detailed policy and practice is given under the individual topic headings.

New Green Belts and CPAs and the alteration of boundaries will be implemented through the statutory development plan system.

The new policy applies to all existing rural policy areas which will now change in title to either Green Belts or Countryside Policy Areas. A list of the changes for each District Council Area will be available from the relevant Divisional Planning Office.
