Latest news about the Plan: Publication of report on Consultation exercise for the Issues Paper
26th July 2006

Background

The West Tyrone Area Plan 2019 is a development plan being prepared under the provisions of Part III of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 by the Planning Service, an Agency within the Department of the Environment. Following publication of the Issues Paper on 18th October 2005, the Department invited comments from the general public, statutory authorities and other public stakeholders, developers and other interested bodies over a 14-week period ending on 27th January 2006.

During this period, the Department received 272 representations from the public, bringing the total number of public responses received before and after the publication of the Issues Paper to 479.

Consultation Report

Planning Service has now compiled a report which examines the findings of the post-Issues Paper public consultation exercise. This report, the fifth in a series of discussion papers that will inform the Draft Area Plan, has been presented to both Omagh and Strabane District Councils and is now available to the public. It includes appendices summarising the comments received from statutory bodies and public stakeholders and a list of public representations for both districts. Maps identifying individual representation sites for each settlement can be inspected at the Omagh Divisional Planning Office.

It should be noted that a number of late representations have also been submitted. These have been noted but are not included in the report. The West Tyrone Plan Team will, where possible, consider these along with any other responses received when preparing the Draft Plan.

Community Technical Aid Report

A copy of Community Technical Aid’s Final Report on the Public and Community Consultation, which was undertaken on behalf of Planning Service, is also available or may be accessed through CTA’s website www.communitytechnicalaid.org .
