Health
The Eastern Health and Social Services Board are responsible
for healthcare provision within the Lisburn City area. Down Lisburn Trust
provide community health, mental health and social care services within Lisburn
City Council area.
Education
Responsibility for the provision of educational facilities in
Metropolitan Lisburn rests mainly with the South Eastern Education and Library
Board (SEELB), the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS) and the
Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education (NICIE) and Comhairle na
Gaelscolaiochta.
In relation to primary school
facilities, the SEELB have advised that the provision of a nursery unit at
Dunmurry Primary School may be required within the Plan period.
A review of post-primary
education in Metropolitan Lisburn is programmed to take place during the plan
period.
Community Facilities
Metropolitan Lisburn provides a
wide range of community facilities including three community centres and 15
youth organisations which function out of a variety of venues such as schools,
church halls and youth centres. Following consultation with Lisburn City
Council, land has not been identified for the development of new community
facilities within the lifetime of the Plan.
Policy CF 2 in Part 3, Volume 1
of the Plan facilitates the provision of further education, community and
cultural facilities during the Plan period.
The SEELB is responsible for
library provision within Metropolitan Lisburn and provide three libraries at the
Dairy Farm Centre, Stewartstown Road, Upper Dunmurry Lane and at the Good
Shepherd Road.
