Addendum to PPS 7: Residential Extensions and Alterations

The Department of Environment has published the final version of the Policy Document ‘Addendum to Planning Policy Statement (PPS) 7: Residential Extensions and Alterations’. This follows consultation on the draft document published in January 2007.

The policy document sets out the Department’s policy and provides guidance in relation to proposals for residential extensions and alterations. The key objectives of the policy are to promote high quality in the design of residential extensions and alterations; and to ensure that that such works are sympathetic to the original property, respect the character of the local area, and protect neighbouring residential amenity.  

Hard copies of the document will shortly be available from Divisional and Sub-Divisional Planning Offices. A Summary of Consultation Responses on the draft document has also been produced.

Should you require a copy of the policy document in an alternative format, it can be made available on request in large print, disc, Braille, or audio cassette. It may also be made available in Minority languages for those who are not proficient in English.
