Addendum to Planning Policy Statement 6 (PPS 6):
Areas of Townscape Character

The Planning Service has published the final version of the Addendum to Planning Policy Statement (PPS) 6 on Areas of Townscape Character. This follows consultation on the draft document published in December 2004.

The Addendum to PPS 6 sets out the Department’s planning policies for demolition of buildings, new development and the control of advertisements in Areas of Townscape Character. It aims to ensure that development proposals respect the appearance and qualities of each townscape area and maintain or enhance their distinctive character.

As part of the implementation of Modernising Planning Processes a Summary of Consultation Responses on the draft document has also been produced.
